School Data Tool

The School Data Tool (SDT) is a web-based tool which provides schools with data to support decision making and school improvement. The tool is a measure to bridge the gap between previous annual data reports and a future business intelligence tool. The SDT provides point-in-time data which is pulled together from multiple sources, analysed and delivered to users in a variety of formats. Data is available in three areas: school context, student engagement and student performance.

The data in the tool in point-in-time based (it is not ‘live’ data) and it is updated periodically according to the times listed in the SDT Data Update Schedule pdf icon (163kb). The data is aggregated at school level, so instead of individual student records, averages or sums for a school and/or academic year level are given.

Metadata is available for each of the data sets in the SDT. Metadata contains a description of the data, the analysis methods used, statements on data quality and limitation of use (where relevant) and contact details for data custodians.
